Preamplifier/Processor and Power Amplifier Offer an “All NHT”

NHT, after nearly 20 years of developing and marketing some of the audio industry’s most acclaimed high performance speakers, will soon ship the first preamp/processor and power amplifier to bare the company’s name.

In keeping with NHT’s approach to offering a limited number of products designed for specific applications, the Controller multichannel preamplifier/processor and Power5 power amplifier are aimed at consumers who demand high performance audio components that offer advanced technology and straightforward plug & play operation.

“If you look at our history of product introductions – especially the Xd DEQX calibrated speaker corrected system – it’s obvious that NHT is continually looking for ways to improve the listening experience without making it unnecessarily complex,” said Chris Byrne, Managing Director, NHT. “The next logical step in this process is to create a family of electronics that are in sync with every other ingredient in the audio chain. It just makes sense.”

According to Andy Regan, Senior VP of Sales & Marketing for NHT, one of the primary advantages of the company’s approach to electronics design is the NHTBusTM TCP/IP based communication pipe that allows clean, uninhibited interplay between NHT components.

“Both the Controller and Power5 will enhance the performance of any existing home system, but, when used with NHT speakers, the NHTBus makes it possible to present an unprecedented level of operating simplicity and elevated level of performance that a mix and match system could never accomplish,” said Regan.
“It’s just common sense that components that are engineered as a system will achieve optimum performance and operate more efficiently than products from a variety of designers and mindsets,” added Regan. “With Vinci’s expertise in amp and processor design, it was simply a matter of deciding what elements would comprise a true NHT system before fitting the pieces together.”

Described as the “hub” of NHT’s complete system approach, the Controller is a 7.1-channel preamp/processor with a modern “no knob, no button” Q Wheel and Q Touch design that presents intuitive operating controls and display functions that are uncluttered and easy to read. When first setting up a system, users are asked if NHT speakers are part of the system.

If so, users then click on the speaker model number for each individual channel, at which point the Controller automatically adjusts all EQ, phase, low and high pass and filters for the specific NHT speaker and subwoofer combination.
Though first and foremost an audio company, NHT spared no expense on the Controller’s HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) digital interface acts as the conduit for both HD Video and multi-channel audio, giving home theater enthusiasts a future-resistant component for enjoying high definition audio and video with the best possible resolution, plus the architecture for compatibility with new technologies such as Bluetooth as they become standardized for home entertainment equipment.

The 200 Watt per channel Power5 Class D power amplifier is designed for both powerful output and super high operating efficiency that results in a cooler, faster amplifier than most comparably priced products. When interfaced with the Controller via the NHTBus, individual channels or groups of channels can be controlled and continuously monitored for operational status and overall “health” with virtually no user interaction required.

The understated, elegant design aesthetic of both the Controller and Power5 will enhance nearly any décor, but, for those times when users prefer no visual detraction from the system, LED graphics power down, only to “wake up” when the end-user waves a hand in front of the components.
