for the tube i more frequent use eclipse pioneer, 2nd is tungsol, 3rd is WE since i seldom listen to pure vocal..... will return the we to u when collect the FC.....

Wima black box 0.1uf/400v costs HK$20 each.
I think wima box is not suitable with ucc spp cap, because ucc spp cap's sound is same as wima black box, if parallel with it the sound will very bright.
it better parallel with scr solen.

PB-MKP-FC  this is the old type of solen not good
The SCR is film & foil. normally the coloue of the side should be red in HK.
But also have black, gery coloue upon the dealer request. But the main body must be black colour, expect the high grade tin foil cap is white colour with black colour words for main body.

For solen PB-MKP-FC is it ok to be use in speaker cross-over since it is quite cheap.... since my AE use 3 cap -->5.5uF, 6.0uF & 8.8uF

Since so much problem to match with this n that, try to Mod the Power side first loh, more easy, no need to headache, that 1 wait until LAST to MOD loh, you still got so many thing to MOD, the biggest effect after MOD is POWER SUPPLY for the TUBE, especially the 100uF100V, 47uf 160V n the solen cap 1uf, i suggest GET THE BEST ONE, like AUDIONOTE, MUNDORF Silver/Gold, JENSEN Silver, REL-CAP or Cardas Cap for the 1uf value. the rest of the E-cap use the BG N series, will give you SURPRISE! :shock:  :shock:  :shock: (especially on SOUND n also PRICE)hehehe... :  :  : .

I do a testing lastnight, change the elna silmic 100uF/50v to sparague 10uF/50v, so bass slightly soft&slow but detail improve, vocal more stand out and generally more musical... thus i guess if i change to BG N series 10uF or 22uF will have more improvement....

the speaker introduced by viewer are too costly. harbeth still the best choice and we can afford it. there are no more speaker like harbeth can perform. it is a all rounded speaker that provides good vocal sound, powerful bass, clarity in high frequency, reality sound field, the most importance is we can't get a speaker like harbeth that made in UK selling at this price.

focus audio review is good but it's not a uk made speaker. it's from denmark.

ProAc ofcaurse is a good brand but easyly cost more than 10K.

Sonus faber as you said it's very dissapointed.

Rockpoint is damn expensive

we have not much choices, if you ask me i will suggest these three brands:

Harbeth, spendor, b&w

you can choose based on your buggets. i only trust speaker from uk (made in England) especially old brand that more than 20 years.

If u want proAC response 2.5, i will suggest u to make 1 (DIY), i got the diagram, and LEDA can sell u the kit include x-over... it is clone of proc Ac... then u just get some carpenter here to do the box for u in m'sia... total cost is ~RM 2000+ only....

last night i had replace 3pcs rubycon 4700uF/25v to panasonic FC. The initial result (1st 1-2hr) is terrible, sound like can't come out, stiff, not smooth, bass is increase a bit....but generally become slightly blur.... so i let it on for the whole night.....

then this morning sound slightly better, more smooth & better vocal & bass, blur reduce a bit but still not as good as previously...

Viewer in your experience normally, how long FC will take to be in good performance?

actually i only found out after change the 3 panasonic FC bass increase about 8-10%, no improvement on clarity yet, but improve on the POSITIONING also maybe 5%, total improvement actually is less than 8%, it due to the price.... :  :  :  bcoz is cheap mah, for me, i cant expect too much...... but for my case it actually help on Bass, more punchy n tight, not like last time soft. i think if all change to black gate..... my roof top will blow away.... :  :  :

my cdp use mix quality of rubycon lah..got yxf, HR, YK(standard) and so on... let the FC run for more time then only can justify..... so far the improvement is less than change the 2pcs 100uF/100v YK to ZL.....

That truth! actually the MOST affected part is the power supply part, especially the 100uf 100V n the 47uf 160V, do you know why, is because the voltage go to the tube plate to amplify the signal, so if you use original cap, the quality of the cap no good, noisy n material of the cap also bad,  i need to said, change the power supply part will give you maybe about 30% of improvement(if you using BG N n FK series) :

U r right, after run in ~20+hr, the FC perform better liao... clearity come back, vocal much nicer than the rubycon standard, bass a lot.....

Just to check with u, is the FC better than the Elna JRR and also the Elna duorex (old cap in my audiolab)??

i just otain my rubycon ZL from farnell..so tonight will repalce another 7caps...
later will change all small yk to ZA, middle-large cap to FC or ZL, important cap to BG....

Now start compare the elna spec with FC & ZL/ZL, if spec show FC or ZL/ZA better then will change all the old cap in my audiolab....

it is not as good as rubycon, may be i have boil it enough time.
i think we should look for another brand, we have to do more reserch about this high value cap.

Be patient.... let the cap run >30hrs then only made decision (FC seems sound terrible before run in) ... besides, after u change the other small cap to BG, your bass will be ok...
I thought u like sofa sound.. ha..ha...
If after run in and install small BG cap still not satisfy then try change to rubycon ZL series loh.... (the ZL seems to have harder/tigher bass but not as sweet/musical as FC).

Dear All (special to viewer & superwhite),

I need help!!!!

Last night when i play the CD, half way of the song the CD player suddenly stop playing, i try to press play button and the display show "no disc" then i try eject n replay the disc turn a few round then show" no disc" change to other disc, at 1st show no disc, then try to tighten the connection, and try again, then one a while can play a CD. But show no disc again when change disc.
try plug & replug the cable...still no improvement then the display is totally gone(no display at all).

the power led is still on(ok), tube power ok(stil got light), cd player mechanism still ok can eject &put in disc. when press play button can hear a "click" sound but no disc movement.. the cd head won't move to detect the disc.
Is there any sensor responsible to detect the CD? which cable is responsible for the display & cd head sensing? (the flat cable?
