If you do all Precautions ahead, need not worry.
My suggestion is, better get an isolated power supply for the clock. It is not expensive here in Hong Kong, just around $ 3x or so. If you get power from the PCB, then you have to be very careful.
I figure it is not easy to get a voltage reading from the Power Supply / Digital part PCB. And, for example, the clock I use requires 12V ... which I can't find anywhere.
You have to short the terminals right for the transformer to get the 12VAC. Plug it in to a wall socket and measure the output to make sure it is indeed 12V AC or around.
Of course, you have to assemble the Clcok and its components correctly on the PCB.
