Modification for Tube CD player

I have a Shanling T80 tube CD player.  Will the sound improve a lot if I change the 2 chinese made tubes?

Definitely yes.
your T-80 is using 6N3 tube, right??

if using 6N3 several tube replacemnet can be use:

1) WE 396A
2) 5670
3) 2C51

Cheap and easier to obtain is GE JAN 5670W - sound is warm, sweet but lact of detail, transparent compare to WE 396A.

If u want those very good detail can try find Bendix redbank 6385 (difficult to get). LM erricson good detail but less musical... so depend on what type of sound u like loh!

Agree!   if you got budget, try on WE396A, you won't regret. even if you regret, you still can sell it with same price, bcoz this tube is vantage tube, no longer production, try get the NOS, you will be amaze buy the sound of this tube..... :wink:
