I don't think so, please read the above link, try to use 3-4 minutes to understanding the details, and 吳國敬 post about the internal circuit of 74HC04, if you have study the semiconductors manufacturing subject in univeristy before, you will see that picture and will get what meaning is. For the beginner diyer, you also can see this in some circuit, try to take a wide checking in our web, we have post before.
When you take a look of all material, you will know who is 傻人.

we try to find out a "close" characteristic.
According to the experience, same lot on wafer can be more close more than 1 year later or above.

Sure, need to parallel.
For a single mosfet, you can simple to finding the matching pair as you need to know the method. I think you will know....
We choose TI, because we get the sample from TI.
You can simple use difference manufacturer brand, like TI, NXP, Fairchild, etc. to check which one have better sound and spec.

Can i confirm that the bug come from 74HC04 instead of SAA7824. I just look at the CD-ROm today, they are using SAA7327.

I don't know exactly the bug of CS8420. I just heard someone said 8420 has bug when upsampling.
What I want to know is CDM12 which you said there is problem with the laser head. Furthermore, I am also anxious to know the detail of your pet "CRAZYMAT " version since I have missed that class in March.
Can someone already has this CDM12 ( HIFIDIY version ) modified give some comments ?
