Change the unknown brand Schottky diode to ON-SEMI.

5V section:
OLD : MBR10100 (10A,100V unknown brand)
New : MBR20100 (20A,100V ON-SEMI)

12V section:
OLD : MBR10150 (10A,150V unknown brand)
New : MBR20150 (20A,150V ON-SEMI)

Lower heat dissipation from diode.

Switching mode power supply modification PART II

Change the Fairchild 10N60 to Infineon CoolMOS 11N60.

Just 1A rating more than Fairchild, Infineon coolmos RDS is much much lower than Fairchild

Result --> Cool (Not too hot than previous)

20-Apr update:
Infineon IPA6R125  600V / RDS on = 0.125 ohm, (25A)
Infineon SPA07N60C3   600V / RDS on = 0.6ohm (7A), still better than default one.
Infineon IPP6R299  600V / RDS on = 0.299ohm, (11A)

Comment on DSIX circuit:

I am the first time to put this circuit on Dolby Digital / DTS output. The feeling is, all of the "information" is increase and depth. Look like DTS HDMA.

You can try this experience at tonight. Also you can compare the default Digital output VS DSIX digital output.

Q1. 明明我是用 HDMI出聲音, 點解要攪DSIX線路 在S/PDIF Coaxial輸出?
A1. 因為俾你駁 External DAC, (e.g. AD1955, CS43122, PCM1792, TDA1541) 聽歌用, 有些AV amp 內建的DAC是很差的.

The Digital audio signal is output via "S/PDIF"(Optical/coaxial) or HDMI port only. The USB port cannot output audio signal.

Some people asking 100uF / 400V is enough for this application or not. (Around 35W at 2 HDD full load).

Let prove here:

Refer to the equation: Assume support world wide voltage (85-220V)

Po_max = 35W
vdc_min = 77V
Vac_min = 90V
f_line = 50Hz

Ans : Around 54uF is need. Therefore 100uF is much enough.

Are you talking about the "BLUE PCB"? it is Linear PSU and with DSIX inside.
