Automatic Loudspeaker Equalizer
If your speaker (with cabinet) performance is like the graph? What kind of amplifier / EQ setting to archive a flat response of 20-20KHz ?
By using DSP engine to calculate the digital filter inside the Class-D amplifier.
Result:
You can building the Class D with pre-matching your speaker performance + your home accoustic. Like Yamaha DSP measuring concept.
To be continue....
Re: Automatic Loudspeaker Equalizer
Project:Speaker unit A
FOSTEX FE83E (3")
Speaker unit B
Logitech 3"
Speaker unit C
Diatone 3" with passive radiator.
All unit are Full range, no crossover, no loss on cross over components.
Building 20W Class D amp with ALE and DRC control.
Archieve the pure flat response with "Any Speaker characteristic"
Step:
1. Building the Speaker unit A/B/C (Budget dependent)
2. Measure the actual frequency response by:
a) You need a Standard MIC (I use Yamaha Z11 mic)
b) A better frequency response sound card. (I use X-FI external)
c) RightMark audio analyzer
d) ALE and DRC SW tunning tools to get the parameter back to the Class D amp.
Better than 2A3.
Actual response curve please refer to this web

Re: Automatic Loudspeaker Equalizer
Frequency Response curve for ProAC 1 SC Good. The Texas Instrument Class-D IC with DRC function looks perfect on my PC speaker system, as I don't want to spend much, while the IC costs only HK$50 ... Worth a try ....http://www.ti.com/corp/docs/landing/tas5706/index.htm
BTW, I don't expect it will be better than 2A3. Because TI mentioned that "Speaker equalization compensates for poor quality speakers, reduces overall system-level cost." And it is for mini speaker only.
As you said it is a perfect match with Logitech PC speakers. I am not turst the sound quality is better than traditional amp, but gettting the parameter and fit into the module, the sound is natural, may be it did not need A/D D/A from CDP.
One major factor is, you need to measure your speaker performance and write the parameter inside the amp. Otherwise, it is a normal Digital Input Class D.
My next progress is seperate the IIS input, making a digital crossover inside the IC (total need 2 pcs of IC), and output HF, LF seperate of 2 channel.
