Re-Wiring the Marantz 7 / M7 重新組線

Been thinking of re-wiring my Marantz 7 for some time. Just too busy these days. Never satisfied with the grounding I have with this M7. I have tried different grounding methods but still the "dee dee" noise is audible.

Dis-assembled the whole thing and re-struct all the wirings again. This time, I adopt a method suggested by Mr. Tong from a renowned Hi Fi shop.

The result -- very satisfying. The noise is greatly reduced. Even at 12:xx mid night, the noise in not really audible. Will have to try it out more tonight.

:lol::lol::lol:

For A-B comparison.

The system before was poorly wired. I just assembled it to make sure it can produce sound.

After re-wiring, you can tell the wires are made shorter than before but rotating the main pcb.

之前的安排.線是沒有好好的排好.那時只求部機出到聲先算.

重新組合之後,線要走的距離短了.

cat,

what's mr Tong's suggestion/methode on grounding? using the wire shield ?? can you share with us?

Dear WINDWSS,

No problem at all. I hope I didn't "mis-interpret" his ideas.

Check the following diagram.

I just arrived home and can't wait to turn on my Hi Fi. As it is still 6:xxpm, there are some noise in the surrounding environment. Yet, I have to stick my ears very close to the woofer before I can hear any noise from my system.

I managed to get home at around 11pm last night and tried my system again.

This method suggested by Master Tong is really good. I am not qualified to say this is the BEST but out of all the trials I have, this one gives the minimum amount of noise.

If I sit 2 feet from my speakers, I will really doubt whether I turn the system on or not. If I keep my ear 8" from the woofer, I still can't hear anything. I have to put my ear almost next to the foam skirt of the woofer before I can hear the usual noise.

In the past, I can hear the noise around 6" from the woofer.

I should have. Give me a day or so to dig it up ....

thanks a lot !!

There you go.

This is for ONE channel.

There are suggested capacitor value for each stage. It is hard to say which suits you best. You have to try them out.

The photos you saw are OLD ones. I have use Jensen Copper Tubes now.

I think I am using 0.1uf, 0.22uf and 2.2uf .... need to open up the case for a check.

Hope this helps.

hin1983214 發表於 2010-2-9 00:22:24

btw...where can i find the power supply pcb for this thing??

alfcat 發表於 2010-2-9 08:24:38

Where are you located? Hong Kong or other countries?

I am using a rectifying / stabilizing board which should be a clone of the one inside Matisse Reference or so.
