Nakamichi has launched the SoundSpace 12MKII, its latest offering in home entertainment solutions.
True to the Nakamichi tradition, the SoundSpace 12MKII combines aesthetic design and superior performance in one neat package. Comprising a stylish brush aluminum chrome disc-drive/control unit in the distinctive Nakamichi diamond shape, an A/V tuner/processor with digital audio transmitter, two remote controls, one subwoofer unit and a set of perfectly-matched speakers finished in smart black and similarly trimmed with the signature Nakamichi diamond shape, the SoundSpace 12MKII is a symphony in form and function.
Otherwise fitted onto table-top stands, the disc-drive/control unit and main speakers can also be fitted onto optional floor stands in sleek chrome for an ultra modern and urbane look. The centre channel speaker comes with an adjustable wall-mount bracket which is also a third option for those who do not want to mount the main speakers on either table-top or floor stands.
With the SoundSpace 12MKII, audio/video entertainment is no longer confined to the installation room alone. Multi-zone capability makes it possible to enjoy simultaneous entertainment in a remote location as well, while multi-source capability offers a choice in A/V entertainment for each of the two rooms. As such, it is now possible to view a DVD movie in one room while a CD is being played in another.
Three disc players are fitted into the disc-drive/control unit. One plays DVDs as well as music CDs while the others are devoted exclusively to music reproduction. The three players operate independently but together, they constitute a unique 3-disc changer that provides continuous music playback with seamless disc-to-disc transition. The CD players are easy to use and programmable, both individually and as an ensemble.
The unit features a direct slot-in mechanism with low-noise motorized mechanism and an innovative disc-edge loading mechanism which, as its name suggests, handles discs by their edges thus ensuring that nothing comes into contact with the playing surface, be it during loading, ejection or moving into play position.
In addition to playback, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, CD-R/RW formats, the DVD player also offers MP3 and JPEG compatibility for a stunning range of entertainment options.Progressive scan realized with Faroudja DCDi Video-ScalerTM delivers smooth film-like, flicker-free images that are crystal clear making it ideal for large-screen reproduction.
The SoundSpace 12MKII delivers sensational sound quality with a dynamic and wide range of frequencies, from mid-lows to highs, thanks to a five-speaker system (four satellite and one centre-channel) and an active subwoofer unit that provides added bass.Designed to produce a smooth, coherent 360 degree sound field, the five satellite speakers are magnetically shielded and acoustically matched.
The SoundSpace 12MKII produces superb localization and imaging through excellent horizontal and vertical high-frequency dispersion, achieved by locating the soft dome tweeter between the bass/midrange drivers in the classic “D’ Applito” configuration.
For the most discerning audiophiles, the SoundSpace 12MKII offers an optional second subwoofer that provides the ideal “twin-mono” configuration for excellent bass frequency propagation, sonic balance and placement flexibility.
The highly acclaimed Harmonic Time Alignment (HTATM), another Nakamichi proprietary technology, ensures minimal distortion of the amplified signalmakes it possible for all the channels to produce clear, amazingly high sound pressure levels by means of creative engineering techniques and exact matching of speakers and amplifier.
